eXPD8’s Commitment
Homelessness is a growing and pressing issue in the UK. One that can affect any individual, from any walk of life. In line with the UK’s Homelessness Covenant, we know that employment is critical in tackling homelessness and supporting people to get back on their feet. Established by Crisis, and supported by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the Covenant aims to unite employers, charities, and policymakers to prevent and end homelessness through inclusive, supportive employment practices. By offering jobs and training to those at risk of and experiencing homelessness employers can create lasting change, offering individuals not just a paycheck, but a path to stability and independence
At eXPD8, we are proud to align ourselves with the goals of the Homelessness Covenant. We are passionate about supporting homeless individuals in finding meaningful, accessible employment and we believe that by offering steady, flexible jobs as part of our field teams, we can provide a tangible and pragmatic pathway out of homelessness.
But, we know its not just that simple. For people experiencing homelessness, finding a job can be an incredibly daunting and barrier-laden task. From the lack of a permanent address to the impact of perceived stigma, the cards often seem stacked against any person experiencing homelessness. At eXPD8, we’re committed to breaking down these barriers by offering accessible, flexible, supportive roles that accommodate the unique needs of individuals currently experiencing or transitioning from homelessness. Our goal is to provide not just jobs, but the stability, security, and dignity that comes with meaningful work – and making it is a simple and easy as possible to ‘get in store’.
But why does this matter?
The Transformative Power of Employment for Homeless Individuals:
Steady, flexible employment provides a foundation for positive change. Here’s how:
- Financial Independence: A steady income allows individuals to secure housing and work toward financial stability.
- Improved Wellbeing: Meaningful work fosters self-esteem and a sense of purpose, significantly improving mental health.
- Community and Belonging: Being part of a team helps individuals build connections and reintegrate into society.
- Career Growth: At eXPD8, we don’t just offer jobs; we provide opportunities for personal and professional growth, ensuring individuals can build long-term careers.
eXPD8’s Ongoing Commitment to People
Our mantra of getting people in-store speaks to our ability to deliver for retailers, but it also reflects our deeper commitment to people. We believe everyone deserves the chance to build a stable career, and we are fully committed to being part of the solution to homelessness by offering meaningful work across the UK.
At eXPD8, we ensure our work environment is free from stigma and unnecessary barriers, allowing individuals to grow and thrive. More than just providing jobs, we want to help people secure stable housing, understanding that employment and a safe home are key to ending the cycle of homelessness and often go hand in hand. We are a judgement-free, equitable place to work, offering safe spaces and support for any of the age to work.
A Call to Action:
Homelessness is a societal challenge that requires all of us to work together. While eXPD8 is committed to doing our part, we need support to connect with candidates. By signposting individuals to eXPD8, you’ll be helping to provide not just jobs, but the stability and support necessary for them to rebuild their lives.
We also call on policymakers and the DWP to continue in pursuit of pragmatic change programs that support individuals as they transition from homelessness to the workforce.
We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far at eXPD8, but we know there’s more to do. That’s why we’re calling on charities, employment centres, and policymakers to partner with us in supporting homeless individuals. Together, we can provide life-changing employment opportunities that will help people move from homelessness to stability.
At eXPD8, we’re not just about getting people in-store. We’re about getting people back on their feet. Join us in our mission to provide accessible, flexible employment to those who need it most, today. Together, we can help end homelessness.
